My name is Kesh and I am the Game Director for Midwest 90: Rapid City.

Midwest 90: Rapid City is a story focused Survival-Tycoon game, where you build and protect your restaurant that cooks and serves monster meat dishes.

It's actually a bit more than that, it's a unique hybrid that I believe hasn't been done before. 

It's a tycoon game at its core, specifically a restaurant tycoon game like Restaurant Tycoon and Pizza Tycoon. The biggest difference is you will be selling Monster Meat to customers in Rapid City, South Dakota USA.  The interesting thing is; your monster dishes will have unique effects on your customers - we call them "Dish Trait".  Some Dish Traits toughen up your customers and lets them fight monsters. Others let you make more money because the dish is so tasty, customers will pay more. Then there are dishes that make the customers feel really good and therefore treating your staff better, improving their motivation and letting them level up faster. 

How successful you are depends on how well you setup your dish menu. 

Apart from that, you will also have to protect your restaurant at night from Monster Attacks. We incorporated tower defense mechanics here but instead of your typical gun towers in other TD games, we want to focus on Traps to fight off monster attacks. You aren't a military commander in this game, you play strictly from the perspective of a restaurant manager. This means gun turrets or missile towers don't fit. Our closest inspiration for this mechanic is Dungeon Warfare and Dungeon Warfare 2, which we played a lot and highly recommend the game if you are a TD fan.

We are also spending a lot of time creating a rich world and story for the game, which is very much inspired by the Netflix show - Stranger Things. The game is set in the future, when the USA is going through a New Great Depression and at the start of a monster apocalypse. You play a restauranter with a unique idea - to buy monster meat from hunters fighting off monster that threaten Rapid City and selling it back to people as mouthwatering dishes.

Some of you might notice that we had setup our itch.io page back in 2021. 

Back then all we had was a simple prototype, but we have come a long way, going through the same struggles any tiny indie studio with no funding would have to deal with. 

 Its been a rough 2 years, but we finally have a proper playable Alpha Demo and we could really use your help guiding us to make the best version of the game possible. If you are keen, please give our Alpha a try and share with us your feedback.
